The Xenobiology Isolation Station
Containment Is Our Only Objective
Station LV-909 is a deep-space bio-containment facility orbiting an isolated gas giant. Its sole purpose is to analyze, sequence, and contain hostile extraterrestrial organisms recovered by deep-space exploration vessels. The station is engineered with five security containment rings, automated sterilizing laser grids, and an absolute self-destruct failsafe. When a dormant alien spore sample from an uncharted moon breaches Level 4 Containment, the research crew must lock down the facility, contain the rapidly mutating biological entity, and prevent the automated purge system from destroying the station before they can escape.
“The containment glass didn’t break from the inside. The organism adapted to dissolve the sealant in under forty seconds.”
- Chief Virologist Dr. Helen Vance

1. Setting Overview and Tone
Station LV-909 is cold, sterile, and militarized. Built out of heavy lead-shielded titanium alloys, every corridor features pressure doors, decontamination mist nozzles, and UV sterilization lamps.
Tone: High-tension survival horror, bio-thriller, and scientific procedural. Suspenseful, claustrophobic, and lethal.
Sensory Pillars:
- Sight: Strobing red emergency beacons illuminating sterile white corridors. Cracks forming across reinforced quartz specimen tanks. Hissing decontamination spray.
- Sound: Blaring containment klaxons. The mechanical sliding shut of blast doors. Organic slithering inside ventilation shafts.
- Touch and Smell: Sharp smell of isopropyl disinfectant, bleach, and burning biological matter. Cold condensation dripping from ceiling pipes.

2. Containment Levels
Level 1 (Administration & Habitat): Quarters, mess hall, and comms array. Supposedly safe zone.
Level 3 (Bio-Labs): Genomic sequencers, centrifuge rooms, and low-risk specimen storage.
Level 5 (Deep Quarantine): Subterranean-level vault under vacuum seal holding Class-A bio-hazards.
—
3. Factions
The Science Directorate: Wants to sample and study the organism, believing its cellular adaptation code holds the key to immortal medicine.
Station Security Force: Focused entirely on protocol execution: contain, purge, and destroy any infected personnel or specimens.
The Survival Cell: Crew members who reject protocol and attempt to override lockdown to reach the shuttle bay.

4. Unique Mechanic: Containment Integrity
Track Containment Integrity from 6 down to 0.
Breach Modifiers:
- Specimen moves to new deck: -1 Integrity
- Airduct or door breach: -1 Integrity
- Manual security lockdown breach: -1 Integrity
- Successful bio-scrub deployment: +1 Integrity
Integrity Status:
- 5-6: Nominal containment. All containment cells sealed.
- 3-4: Partial breach. Level 3 & 4 compromised. Localized decontamination underway.
- 1-2: Critical breach. Specimen active in habitat decks. Automated self-destruct warning active.
- 0: Self-destruct initiated. 15-minute shuttle bay countdown begins.

The Station Engineer
You control ventilation ducts, pressure valves, and auxiliary power grids.
- Drive: “Manual override airlocks to clear an escape path to the shuttle.”

6. Starter Scenario: The Spore Mutation
Sample 9-X, an alien fungal spore thought to be inert, mutates after exposure to station radiation. It dissolves the primary containment tank in Level 4, infecting two lab assistants and turning the lower ventilation network into a spore-producing hive.
Containment Integrity drops to 3. The Security Chief orders a Level 4 sector purge (flaming oil wash), which will kill the trapped assistants. The player characters must decide whether to save the assistants, execute the purge, or find a way to halt the spore spread before the self-destruct timer triggers.
