High-Concept Pitch: The galaxy is vast and strange. Stellar Bites is in 600 star systems of it, and they all have the same menu.

Stellar Bites achieved galactic dominance through a simple proposition: standardized, consistent, universally adequate food at every location. Not great. Consistent. In a universe of infinite variety, consistency is a value proposition. The franchise model works. The individual locations work less smoothly.

Location 7,743 is on the Teryx Station, a mid-sized transit hub that sees traffic from 30+ species daily. The crew is diverse, the management is earnest, and the situations are consistently unusual in ways the franchise manual does not address.

Tone: This is workplace comedy in space. The problems are real (broken equipment, difficult customers, supply chain issues) and also occasionally cosmic (the secret sauce, the franchise inspector’s true nature, the anomaly). The crew handles both with the same level of weary professionalism.

The Inspector’s visits are noted in crew logs with a specific tension that suggests the Inspector is unusual in a way the logs do not fully articulate.

The Supply Chain

Stellar Bites operates a galaxy-wide supply chain delivering standardized ingredients to all 14,000 locations. The chain is generally reliable. When it fails, location 7,743 is expected to improvise within franchise standards. The franchise standards do not address improvisation.

3. Adventure Seeds

1. The Secret Sauce Investigation: Someone has read the full ingredient list for the Stellar Bites signature sauce. One ingredient is listed by a designation number that doesn’t correspond to any known food source. Further investigation reveals the designation is a classification code for a sentient organism. It may be classified. It may be voluntary. It may be neither.

2. The Franchise Inspection: The Franchise Inspector arrives. The Inspection reveals the Inspector is not human, not from any recognized species, and has been inspecting Stellar Bites locations across the galaxy since before some of those locations existed. The inspection itself is meticulous and professional. The inspectoris nature creates a parallel concern.

3. The Supply Failure: The supply chain has failed. 7,743 has 36 hours of standard ingredients. After that, they either close (Service Score disaster) or improvise a menu from locally available sources. The local sources include some things that are technically food and some things that are technically not food but might pass in an emergency.

4. The Long Shift: A galactic transit disruption has trapped 3,000 beings on Teryx Station with nowhere to go but the three restaurants, of which Stellar Bites is the only one still operational. The rush is beyond anything the location was designed for. Normal service is impossible. Extraordinary service requires extraordinary measures.

5. The Perfect Review: Location 7,743 has been nominated for Stellar Bites’ Corporate Excellence Award. A review team is coming. The location is not, in its current state, award-ready. It has been awarded anyway, by a being who apparently visited in the future and found it perfect. Making the award legitimate requires figuring out what about the future visit was perfect and replicating it now.
